留魂祠は、東京都大田区南千束にある西郷隆盛を祀る霊社。隆盛の死後、勝海舟が追慕のため、漢詩の碑を立て、明治16年、留魂祠を創建した。もと薬妙寺（木下川薬師・浄光寺のことか？）境内に祀られていたが、勝の遺志により1913年(大正2年)勝海舟墓の隣接地に遷座された。（由緒書き）
